6.  The name of Germantown was changed from Germantown once and then changed back again.  What was it changed to and why?

The name of Germantown was changed to Neshoba on May 25, 1917 due to the anti-German sentiment during WWI. Germantown boys serving in the Armed Forces wrote home saying that their fellow soldiers gave them a hard time after seeing the name “Germantown” on their mail. Soldiers passing through town on troop trains pelted the Germantown depot sign with mud balls. After the war ended, Neshoba once again became Germantown on April 4, 1922.
